2004 - the snowstorm

a photo collection
In February of 2004, a meter of snow fell on the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. That's about three feet of snow, for those who follow the old Imperial system. It fell in one day. That was not a day for photography. There was no light, for one thing, and there was absolutely no visibility. To get a sense of what it was like, imagine that the entire sky -- no, the air around you -- is a swarming fluid thing, a dizzying maelstrom of whirling ice crystals. Impossible to photograph. But these are a few pics from the day after. When the world as I'd always known it reasserted itself.
