Yuwandake Observation Park

a photo collection
I was on Amami Oshima, when I found a nature trail on the map. There are nature trails, and then there are .. nature trails! This unmarked animal trail ran on the shoulder of a ridge. It was only two kilometers long but felt much long because of the trail conditions. Please consider your footwear accordingly, as there are many loose rocky slopes, muddy patches, and of course deadly snakes. I would recommend taking this trail in March, when I did, to avoid the snakes and the chance of there being snow on the ground. You have to watch your footing quite carefully here, and having snow on the ground would be too much.
