Our introduction to Shanghai came in the form of a tour with Shanghai Sideways. They did such a great job, it was the best tour we've ever taken. What you see in the video on their website is what you get, plus your choice of destinations that aren't on any other tour's agenda. Getting to the roof of the post office even though it was closed for a private function; seeing the "mystery destination"; walking the back lanes of the real "old town"... What a fantastic way to meet the city. When it was done, we felt like we knew the place—it made the rest of our visit much easier. I would strongly recommend that all visitors to Shanghai take this trip on their first day.
