This illustrated book is about Germany, from the late 19th century to the late 20th century. It's a somewhat dramatic telling of events that first built then shaped the European nation. It's not an easy matter, dealing as it does with several wars, economic depression, and genocide. But it is written in an excellent style, with some provocative editorializing among and otherwise very factual work.
It covers a lot of social and artistic matter, and gives an excellent picture of life in Germany throughout the last century. I picked it up because I was interested in learning more about the land of my father's birth, and it certainly filled that aim.
