I noticed on Saturday that The Girl's goldfish were spawning again. So I took the two spawners out of the aquarium and into a bucket, to which I added some filter material. In this way I managed to salvage a few hundred eggs. It's now been nearly three days and the eggs are darkening nicely. I believe we're about to have a few (score, or hundred) fry.
I've gotten together a few things and will start raising some brine shrimp for the poor wee things.
