movie review - Wrath of Man

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2022.09.25

This is, like other Guy Ritchie movies, about a gangster in a pinch. In this case, he's looking for revenge for the rash killing of his son. It's a journey that takes him to the heart of an armored car company, which happens to be corrupt.

It's a violent story but not in a way that needlessly glorifies the violence the way that certain hacks do. As usual, the director manages to find a tone that works and sees it through.

Recommended.

In our society, there seems a general rule that, the more obviously one's work benefits other people, the less one is likely to be paid for it.
