twenty-seven years and one million words

This is an action pic about an assassin who's been tasked with hitting a yakuza target. But she's also been poisoned and has only a short time to live. It's an interesting premise but the execution isn't quite there. There are a few too many things that are left for us to guess, and some build-up about a connection between the assassin and the crime family she's targeting is left dangling in front of us in the final scene. Did it exist or not? We're not shown the photo the assassin is given. Madenning. Or maybe I'm stupid.

Anyway, it turns out that we have a connection to the young lady that co-stars in this thing. She's the daughter of an acquaintance of my wife, a Japanese woman that lives in Toronto.

Not recommended.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
