movie review - Inside Man

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Kokubunji, 2021.01.11

The main weakness of Heist movies is being too clever. And this one is too clever in spades. I don't recommend it because it not only suffers from that problem but also not delivering any real kind of pay-off. I'm not sure what happened to this but it feels like there were problems on set or possibly that the editors couldn't stitch together whatever they were looking for. The greasy dollop of dated sexism didn't help.

I rather hope this pandemic stuff winds down, soon.

Not recommended.

rand()m quote

Society is indeed a contract... [the state] is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue, and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are living, those who are dead, and those who are to be born.

—Edmund Burke
