Google autocomplete completes a friend's name with the word "obituary"; he'd also cancelled the phone number I had. Naturally, I feared the worst. Especially when my emails to two of his accounts went unanswered even though I was sending him a three-year membership to a professional association.

But I tracked him down through one of his colleagues. He's alive!
