laid low

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2016.03.11

Laid low for two days, in my prime, just barely 45, by my fourth bug this winter. Shuffled over to pick up my son and his friend's mother told me it was the same for her (the count of sicknesses, not the advancing age).

And when I was sent by the doctor to pick my meds and I couldn't read the pill bottle. So I bought some $8 pharmacy reading glasses. There was a woman there buying some (she showed me where the 1/2 price ones were) and I admitted it was my first time. She advised me to go get drunk with friends.

rand()m quote

Society is indeed a contract... [the state] is a partnership in all science; a partnership in all art; a partnership in every virtue, and in all perfection. As the ends of such a partnership cannot be obtained in many generations, it becomes a partnership not only between those who are living, but between those who are living, those who are dead, and those who are to be born.

—Edmund Burke
