collided with a jogger, today

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2015.10.06

I collided with a jogger, today. I was overtaking him on the long stretch of two-lane multi-use "recreational trail" along Lakeshore east of the river. Just as I got out to pass him, he did an abrupt u-turn. We collided bodily, a good thing because he would otherwise have caught my handlebars and wheel. We both stayed on our feet, and when I asked if he was all right he cursed me and headed back on his course.

The guy wasn't even wearing headphones, as was the last pedestrian I collided with, back in Tokyo in '08 or so.
