twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2014.08.16

I've now been working for more than twenty years; I suppose it's better than to toil in obscurity than it is to loaf in obscurity.

Three good things that happened today:

  1. Mari's plan of getting out on our bikes to do some shopping before the rain kicked in worked perfectly (unfortunately the family across the street decided to head out on their bikes just after we returned, and they came back in twenty minutes, soaked).
  2. Kept inside on a rainy day, The Boy delighted me by asking me to read him a book.
  3. The Girl napped for 3 1/2 hours.

rand()m quote

Immature poets imitate mature poets steal bad poets deface what they take and good poets make it into something better or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique utterly different than that from which it is torn the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time or alien in language or diverse in interest.
