bring coffee or don't come home

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2014.05.28

No coffee in the home this morning; Mari's look said, "Bring coffee beans tonight, or don't come home." I've gotten too wrapped up, geeking on my own research work. Some fascinating stuff. But I've been putting in eleven hour days again.

Three good things that happened today:

  1. Superb weather for cycling.
  2. Ken read me the first half of "the boy who cried wolf" before breakfast, he did it with great competence.
  3. The lawn election sign arrived for the candidate we know.

rand()m quote

The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love, and in order to occupy and distract himself without love he gives way to passions and coarse pleasures, and sinks to bestiality in his vices, all from continual lying to other men and to himself.

—Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov
