vacuum cleaner fun

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2012.08.02

The Electrolux vacuum cleaner we bought in Japan has stopped working; the local shop says repair is impossible.

Because they can't figure out the model number, and therefor can't source parts. Hard to imagine that as an Electrolux sales and repair shop owner—who presumably is not also running contraband to augment his income—as no access to the data he needs. All of the cleaner's internal parts (filters, bags, etc) are labeled clearly in English. Naturally, I'm not giving up on an expensive vacuum cleaner on the word of some ill-tempered slouch, and will now scour the world for support.

Again, not saying that "Vacuum Chek" in the Beaches area of Toronto is a front, but they sure ain't a competent vacuum repair shop!

rand()m quote

I feel fortunate that I enjoyed the blandishments of modernity. I had hip replacement and root canal. I was able to travel on airplanes. I was able to take cheap food for granted. I went to the movies. I enjoyed rock 'n' roll. And now I'm ready to move on.
