no rain last night

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2012.05.31

We had a forecast for rain last night, but it simply didn't materialize - again.

I don't even remember the last time we had rain, and now the city's parks are turning brown. It could not be more different from last spring, when we had one rainstorm after another, and more fog than I'd seen in my entire life.

Granted, I haven't lived in too many foggy places, but Toronto's certainly not a foggy city. Last year was as wet as this one's been dry.

In our society, there seems a general rule that, the more obviously one's work benefits other people, the less one is likely to be paid for it.
