scary map of Japan

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Tokyo, 2010.03.20

I came across a scary map of Japan today. It depicts earthquake risk in different parts of the country.

I'm a volunteer warden with the Canadian Consular Services. It means that if a major disaster hit the city, I'd be responsible for ensuring that the Canadians in the area came through okay. Well, I'd be responsible for helping with that enormous task, anyway. Today I went into the Minato city office to gather some documents and maps towards sending out a package for each of the Canadian families in my jurisdiction. I spotted this, which depicts earthquake risk in various shades. I take it that yellow means high risk and red means 'sayonara'.

rand()m quote

I'd see the publicity guy come on the set and I'd go hide in the rafters. The crew would be like, ‘I haven't seen him.' And then they'd leave and I'd go back to work. Because that's what's fun: the doing, not the talking.
