kuda imports

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.12.22

Today my mum and I went shopping for a gift for my girlfriend.

She (my mum) took me to a funky place somewhere in the eastern end of the city that specializes in (mostly wooden) stuff from the far east. It's called Kuda. Check out their website; their stuff is beautiful. Anyway, I picked up a medicine box for my "Auntie" Laurie (despite her insistence that she wanted nothing) and a great mirror frame for my girlfriend.

I also managed to show the place, yet again. Everyone who sees the place in the daylight - as I first did - seems as impressed as I was when I first saw it. I don't think I'm going to wind up paying for the place for the full four months left on my lease.

rand()m quote

In the wake of 9/11, we [in America] have made the decision as a society that we can never again create something in which we can take pride, for fear that someone will destroy it. Moreover, we must suppress any trace of individualism, lest someone have the desire to rise above the bland sameness that protects us. I have, alas, no idea how to recapture our courage.
