sniping and wining

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Toronto, 2003.11.22

Tonight was a lot of fun. I went to a shopping maul with my girlfriend where we sniped and crabbed at one another. And by 'we' I mean 'she' (heh, I can say that cos it's my journal and there's nothing she can do – she was wrong, she was wrong, nyah nyah). Anyhoo, she got what she wanted. I got to hear the new Robbie Williams CD, which was snappy, funny, and self-mocking as ever. After that we went for dinner at her sister's place (it was her mum's birthday). Her sister Jody is an amazing cook. We had a really good pork dish and quite a bit of red wine and vodka coolers. And by "we" I mean "I".

rand()m quote

Immature poets imitate mature poets steal bad poets deface what they take and good poets make it into something better or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique utterly different than that from which it is torn the bad poet throws it into something which has no cohesion. A good poet will usually borrow from authors remote in time or alien in language or diverse in interest.
