movie review - Insomnia

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Vancouver, 2002.08.01

When I emerged from this one, I was certain that I hadn't slept for six days. It's a remake of a European flick starring Stellan Skarsgard in which two cops from the city turn up in a remote arctic town to investigate a murder. The investigation is barely begun when one of the cops - in this case played by Pacino in his best performance in a looong time - shoots his partner during a foggy foot chase. When the cop covers up his actions, he is contacted by the murderer....

This is third movie in a row I'm recommending: I must be slipping.

Recommended.
