unemployed walk

the journal of Michael Werneburg

twenty-seven years and one million words

Vancouver, 2002.03.08

With Ken and Heidi back off at work (poor buggers), Mr. Yoon and I went for a longish walk 'round the city. He hadn't seen False Creek yet, so we did that circuit, and headed down to the 3000 block of Broadway Street to a camera store there. I knew they had a lens I was interested in - though I have no money - but the dream died when they told me they wouldn't take trade-ins. All my old manual-focus lenses are mine forever, it seems.

We got back to civilisation and to Pepita's for dinner and drinks. Fine food, but ohhh, the tequila, sangria, and margaritas.

rand()m quote

Remove everything that has no relevance to the story. If you say in the first chapter that there is a rifle hanging on the wall, in the second or third chapter it absolutely must go off. If it's not going to be fired, it shouldn't be hanging there.

—Anton Chekhov
